Contact: Kym Holland, Office of Alumni Affairs
The Ƶ Office of Alumni Affairs, in partnership with Publishing Concepts Inc. (PCI), is conducting a comprehensive update of the university’s alumni database.
Alumni Affairs Coordinator Kym Holland noted the effort will ultimately help the university better serve its global alumni base.
“Everyone wants to know what is occurring on campus and with their alma mater, and it’s incumbent on us to ensure we can reach our alumni no matter where they live,” Holland said. “We ask our alumni to partner with us through this database update so we can maintain a reliable line of communication with them through our ongoing mail, email and telephone outreach.”
Beginning Monday, May 14, Tuskegee alumni for whom the university has current contact information will receive a postcard in the mail and/or an email asking them to contact PCI representatives to verify their alumni information.
“Just because alumni receive a postcard doesn’t mean we don’t have other types of information we need to obtain, verify or update,” Holland said. “We want to ensure what information we have on record — our alumni’s graduation details, employment status, and the like — is accurate as well.”
Holland noted this information is crucial to other areas of the university, such as tracking and benchmarking by the university’s career placement office, statistical data required for government grant applications, and rankings data that relies on the accurate reporting of alumni giving percentages.
Alumni participating in the data verification invitation will have the opportunity to be opt into and purchase a printed directory. Otherwise, Holland noted, the university treats alumni information as confidential, and it does not sell or rent its alumni database to groups outside the university.
Alumni who did not receive a postcard or who have questions about the project can contact Holland at 334.727.8521 or kholland@tuskegee.edu.
