Dr. Egnin’s research is focused on plant genomics, molecular biology, breeding, protein engineering, gene expression, and tissue culture. She works on expressing nutritionally and pharmacologically active vaccine-related products in transgenic crops, focusing on human obesity disorder and food crops such as sweet potato, peanut, and yam. Her work includes developing high-protein, nutritious transgenic sweet potato and peanut plants with value-added traits and establishing in-vitro systems for peanut seed production and sweet potato edible roots.
