Eligibility Requirements
Eligible graduate students, upon nomination by their advisor(s), are qualified for participation in the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (DAES) outstanding graduate student recognition.ÌýÌý This is a separate Masters and Doctoral student recognition.Ìý General eligibility criteria to participate in the competition, specific criteria, and the evaluation process are presented below.
I. General eligibility for participating in the competition:
a. Graduate students within two semesters or less of graduation are eligible for nomination
b. Has been admitted to candidacy
c. Minimum GPA: 3.5 on 4.0 scale
II. Specific outstanding student selection criteria (across programs):
a. Publications, Posters, and Oral Presentations at professional meetings (including PAWC): rank order of significance: peer reviewed journal, book chapter, proceedings entry, conference presentations (oral and/or poster)
b. Awards receivedÌý
c. Involvement in departmental/college/university activities and mentorship
d.Involvement in community service outside the university
e. Academic performanceÌý
III. Application submission and evaluation process:
a. The Graduate Student Selection Committee will be made up of one representative from each program area (Agricultural and Resource Economics, Animal and Poultry Science, Environmental Science, Plant and Soil Science, Integrative Biosciences, and Integrative Public Policy and Development) and the Head of Department.
