Sigma Gamma Tau Initiation Ceremony

"Try not to be men/women of success, but rather men/women of value" (Albert Einstein). These were the words echoed by Jarred Connelly, President of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Chapter of Sigma Gamma Tau (SGT) National Honor Society in Aerospace Science Engineering, as he welcomed all present to the SGT induction ceremony held on Friday, March 12, 2010. This monumental occasion saw two juniors and two seniors AE students being inducted into this prestigious honor society. Reginald Davis and Jerald Fayorsey (Sophomores), Justin Halls (Graduating Senior) and Shayla Givens (Senior). These students have all demonstrated outstanding academic performance by being in the upper 1/5th of their sophomore class and upper 1/3rd of their respective senior class.

The Guest Speaker for the event was Mr. Steven L. Hill, Vice President for Quality Operations & Program Management at Lockheed Martin in Washington D.C.  Mr. Hill urged the inductees and all present to follow their passion in ultimately determining their career path.  Mr. Hill also commended the inductees for achieving this honor noting that he knows firsthand that the journey was not an easy one.  Mr. Hill graduated from ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Science Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  He earned his Masters of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management.  He is also a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.

Dr. Vascar G. Harris the Head of the Aerospace Science Engineering Department and faculty advisor for SGT was on hand to applaud the inductees.  Kenneth E. Garrett, an alumnus of Tuskegee now at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, was also on hand to extend hearty congratulations to the inductees on behalf of the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Engineering Alumni Association - Aerospace Engineering (TUEAA-AE).
