Boehringer Ingelheim Summer Scholarship Program 2018

In 2018, two first-year veterinary medical students from Ƶ College of Veterinary Medicine, was selected as participants in the Boehringer Ingelheim Summer Scholarship Program.

Awardee: 1.    Derek B. Carn

Summer Research Topic: “Identification of phages binding to epithelial and to mesenchymal (EMT) phenotypic breast cancer cells” (Mentor Dr. Deepa Bedi)

  2.       Samantha N. Special

Summer Research Topic: “Identification of pathogenic bacteria derived from natural water sources” (Mentor Dr. Abdelrahman Mohamed)

Thanks to the support from the Boehringer Ingelheim Summer Scholarship Program, both scholars participated and presented their research results at The National Veterinary Scholars Symposium at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Both Derek B. Carn and Samantha N. Special, Boehringer Ingelheim Summer Scholars, did poster presentations at the National Veterinary Scholars Symposium at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences on the Texas A&M University campus.
